I think the rules just say they must be of stock origin, don't think anybody notches them though.

No, the rules say any manufactures spring plate allowed. My interpretation of that rule is that you can notch all you want as you then become the manufacture of said spring plate;) Jeremy and I notched ours a little but that was mainly because we run the sway a way spring plates that are wider than a stock set.

Don't notch the spring plates. Your weekening them. Just notch the lower droop stop on the tower and reenforce it...
