Well I work 72 and off for 96 so I've got a few days to kill and the car gets pretty good mileage so why not. I'll have to see when I can get away and let you know. Thanks again!

My first ten years were with CDF. Left a Captain to go to the Big City. Worked in Santa Clara RU mostly.
You need to get with Bugged on this site. He is a Cal Fire Captain at Merced Airport. He and his family are one of the nicest group of people I have met racing.

Hey Squirly, I found a beam local I'm gonna try to scoop up this weekend so HOPEFULLY I won't need yours anymore. But thanks again for the offer.

I also found some cancer on the passenger side floorboard and on the rear deck. Wasn't thrilled about that find. I poked a screwdriver through it but I think I'll just patch it since its not a huge area. Is that advisable? And the rear deck portion doesn't seem like that big of an issue..... Or is it?

Chayes911,
remember while you are looking for a front end,
you can purchase a complete new front end - tubes/towers, torsion bars, trailing arms with ball joints, spindles, tie rods w/ tie rod ends for less than $300, I would use the tubs and keep the rest for backup or spares since most are empi products, I do not now which catalog it was in, I spent 5 min looking and could not find it.

Also do not worry about the back floor panel that is rusted out due to battery acid, Just cut it out with a air drill disc cutter and drop in and weld a back corner panel that you can buy from Jbugs or any other vw parts internet side or distributer, you can cut it out and weld a new one less than an hour.

I found a complete front end with hubs and everything for $100. Not exactly sure what is all on there but I figured $100 wasn't a bad deal. I'm going to try to get it this weekend and get it chopped up . I hope you guys are available for when I mess somethin up.

Well with the crazy fire activity I haven't been able to do much. I did buy a new fly wheel and got it mounted just to find out I have to get a gauge and shims. hopefully get that on Tuesday and be able to throw in the transaxle and motor. Then start on figuring out what is what. Almost all the bolts were/are now stripped on the cv's so I have to get those taken care of. Slowly but surely. Its a pain not knowing anything, but it has been a learning experience. Hopefully I can be driving it within the next two months or so.
