We were spectating at Primm, it was our first time watching an off road race in person. It looked to me like a lot of the course had been graded. Is that typical of the courses or ??

Thanks,
L

P.S. We plan to be running the next BAP.

The guys here could probably answer the question in greater detail, but essentially and unfortunately, the answer is yes. This has been the case for races such as Parker, Laughlin and other Southern Nevada courses.

Sometimes, the grading occurs only after the race, irregardless of where it is located, so as to repair the damage to roads frequently used by local traffic. But sometimes, this is due to whining racers, particularly Pay-To-Play Trophy Truck Chumps, who find it difficult to finish a race when it is too rough for their big bug race truck that boasts 3-feet of wheel travel. I have heard others complain as well, but its easy enough to pick on certain Trophy Trucks, since such was the case at the SCORE Laughlin race this year.

I have heard course grading blamed on the BLM but have also heard it blamed the promoter or a mutual agreement of some sort. Promoters will be fined for not repairing such segments of the course as road crossings and publicly used roads.
