As the 08 MORE series comes to a close, I must say that this was a very fun and unusual race. Dave did a phenominal job driving Pump Gas to a 4th place finish and 2nd in points (I think). Myself? Well lets just say that what had started over a beer at the bar after tech Friday night landed me in the passenger seat of the legendary \"T.Q.\" 1189 on race day. Ed drove the wheels off of the 1189 earning him the nickname of Ed \"Easy\" Mahoney plucking off 11s one by one except for one. While passing a remote pit at Outlet Center, we herd that 1189 looked good and were in a good groove. My question to them was, who's in 1st? That orange Pump Gas car by a longshot was the answer and I screamed out in joy. Pump Gas had trans problems and was nursed back to main and lost too much time that put 1191 in dead last by the time she got rolling again. Meanwhile in 1189, we were rollin along in 1st when we started to hear a strange noise coming from the rear. We pulled into main just before last lap and was told an axle tube was cracked and was losing gear oil. At that point 1199 had passed and we decided to go for it. We followed the dust of 1199 till race mile 8 on the large loop and had got right next to him side by side when all of a sudden, KABOOM, that was it for Ed and I. While we cussed and swore talking about what if, a sense of joy came across me knowing that Pump Gas was still in the race. Ed talked me into walking to Hodge road saying it was only 2 miles. I think he forgot a zero. Ed, I apologize for not being on my game in the car as I wasn't 100%. You are partially to blame. Thanks to Gary, Dennis and the entire Jeep gang for towing the carcas out of the desert and rehydrating us. We had a great main pit 5 of the 9 11s all together. Dennis and 11bros, (Rich and Timmy) it was great pitting together all year and congrats on 1st place points. A special thanks Dennis for getting Pump Gas up and running to finish the race. There is no way Dave could have done it without you. Anne (1169) I'm glad that we finally hooked up pitting together and that you finished the season. Thanks but no thanks on the TAKILLYA. I'm a beer man. Jeremy and Jason (1135), it was great having you guys there as well. Congrats on 2nd place. Allen and Mama Worm I had a great time around the fire swapping stories and thanks for all the treats. Thanks Mark (Derelict Industries) for keeping Dave on his game in the car. Thanks Chris and the girls Roxanne and Lupe for working main. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and see you at year end awards. (most of you).

It was a pleasure meeting and hanging out with you Chip. I have to give a big thank you to the 11 Brothers crew for saving our race. They changed a tire for us when our crew wasn't ready and also welded our front shock tower. Jeremy drove one hell of a race. We were leading when the shock decided to leave the tower. What happened was that we lost the shock rubbers for the upper shock mount so the post was just beating around in the tower and we hit really hard and it finally ripped it's way out. After that we were in catch up mode being down over 15 minutes to the leaders. We made up some time but finished second by 4 minutes(Hey, at least an 1199 won the race I guess). Like I said Jeremy was cooking when the car was together. He turned fast lap on the short loop (Beat Dave in PG2 by 9 seconds) and also fast lap on the big loop by over 8 minutes!!!! What a stud. I will post a detailed race recap later in the week. It was very fun to dice it up with Ed, Dave, and the 11 Bros. Next time Ed, ask us before the race and we will show you all the cheater lines. Thanks for the 40 bucks, it paid for the gas on the way home. For those of you keeping score at home the official THUG battle scorecard between Ed and J&J is now all knotted up at 2 races apiece. Battle at Primm should be fun.

Yeah this race was one for the books. I can't wait to have grandkids so I can bore them with all the details. It was a pleasure hanging, pitting and racing with the 1169, 1135 (aka 1199), 1101 and 1191. Thanks for riding shotgun Chip, I hope that headache is finally gone. Thanks Dennis and family for the pre-race help with my oil cooler after the rookie move on my part. Thanks Mrs. Setten for the Killer Carne Asada taco's and salsa second only to my own. Congrats to Gavin Drake on another win. This was exciting to say the least!! It's a toss up between running from Mark Murrell for 35 miles at Ridgecrest or dicing it out the whole race with different cars at Barstow for my funnest race ever. You're welcome for the gas money THUGS. WOW

Dennis, get the 5/1600 ready for Plaster City and I'll be there to return the wrenching. I'll also bring an army of help. That includes entertainment and food also.

I also want to congratulate Richard and Timmy on their championship. The two of them are very talented racers and are only going to get better.

Dennis,
The entire time Jeremy and I have been racing this class you have been nothing short of amazing. Your constant offers for assistance and advice mean a lot to Jeremy and I. You do whatever you can (this goes for the entire 11 Bros team) and expect nothing in return. That is awesome. You guys truly saved our race.

Ed,
What can I say, you are a true Thug. In the short time we have known each other I have come to consider you a friend. Your sense of humor is right up my alley. It was probably the highlight of my race to dice it up with you out on the course. I will forever have the image of you standing behind that bush with a rock in your hand as we drove up to you guys burned in my memory. That was classic. It sucks you guys broke because you were moving.

Chip,
Anybody that could ride in an 11 car and put up with Ed for a 100 miles is ok in my book. Next time we are in the desert, I am cooking steaks, and you're invited.

Again, way to go Timbo. Help/motivate your dad for the 5/16 shootout. I will be there to help any way I can.... As long as I can wear the cowboy hat. Hell, I may even sing a song or two. You have my number. FYI year end awards are Jan.17th. J&J, STEAKS? It's too bad you won't be there Newyears. Have fun on your round the world vacation.

The feelings are mutual Jason. If I would have remembered I had a shovel we could have faked digging a booby trap. Good times..

I say we make Chip cook the steaks so long as you don't mind eating at midnight.
