TOPIC: What would you do different?

What would you do different? 2 years ago #11407

I'm toying with the idea of building or buying (more leaning towards buying) a 11 car. I've helped the winning 1135 team for a few years so I am somewhat fiamliar with 11 cars. Now that you have built/bought/raced your 11 car, what would you have done different and why?

If we buy a car it will be a very limited budget. I would hate to buy a car and then find out I want something totally different. I see there a few cars in the classifieds but they are way out of our price range. Anybody know of any good deals?

In a perfect world, I would like to get a race ready car that I can modify as needed but has a solid platform.

Definitely buying a car is much cheaper, quicker, an ez'er than building one. You just missed the deal of the century! A proven race winner, 1110 was sold here on the coalition for under 10k.

I would buy a car if on a budget. Some stuff won't be exactly how you want it but can be fixed with some elbow grease most of the time. Some things plain need to be upgraded or improved. Much cheaper. We have spent a LOT on our car by now.

Put me down as another vote for \"buy a car\". Also, depending on what series you're going to race, make a condition of the purchase be that it be inspected and approved by that organization's tech person.

Can't think of much worse than buying a car and then finding out you can't race it without some major changes.
Dirt is for racing. Asphalt is just for getting there.

I would be 99% leaning towards buying. I don't have the time right now to build one. I just finished building a play car, don't think the wife would go for another year of fabriation in the garage.

If anyone knows of a good deal please let me or Jason/Jeremy know.

We haven't finalized what we are going to do yet, but may have our red Petfinder.com Adopt a Homeless car for sale once the new body is installed. It is SCORE tagged etc. Won't know until mid February.

A friend is toying with selling a new build he recently started with some parts. Not a complete car but a Score legal cage, adjuster & some of the parts; it's a good head start on a new build... You can email him: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
