I discoverd this yesterday. On the bottom of the cast outer portion of the rear torsion tube there is a littel support that goes to the body. On the PS, mine has a clean break. I was going to weld it up anyway, but the question remains, shoudl I go all hog on gussetting it up? Run some thick strapping to make it bomb proof??

I can snap a pic if anyone is interested.

This means 1 thing Mace, your torsion housing is not supported right and is starting to bend and flex. No matter what You need 3 tubes connecting the torsion housing to support it correctly where it cant bend, That was a gigantic issue in the early days of class 11 when you could NOT touch the housing with tubing or any thing else for that matter. Tubing going forward from the very outside to the beam, a tube up top or main cage up top and one behind on the very outside going back and up to the firewall area connecting to another to keep the torsion from moving. ANY other way will not make the torsion last or give diddly for strength

I'll support it more then.

I already have the beam supported by the B pillar, the bars that run along the floor and a gusset that runs to my rear shock mounts.

I have more tube sitting around, easy enough to do :)

Thanks dave.

Don't feel I am knocking what you have done, not at all, just experience has shown this to be true. What ever tubes you put in make sure they are as far to the end of the torsion tube as you can go. I see a lot of cars that have tubes half way down the torsion tube which does really nothing to strengthen the torsion tube, the force on the torsion housing on the end you have to figure is pretty intense and when that piece starts breaking things are forsure moving. If there is no gap between the break then you got lucky and the torsion housing didnt bend back or up. Some cars if you look have BIG gaps which means the housing tube is bent back and most likley up. I have seen enough V-d torsion housings in my day but have also seen torsion tubes last for decades with out bending with the rite tube placement.

Not offended by any means. Finding the weak points of my design is a good thing. One of the reasons I liked racing the BAP as the first race. I'd rather figure things out when I can fix them before bigger issues arise..

The gap is only a MM or so. Pretty minimal.
