Club 11 guyz.....I search the photos some of you provide(please post all you can) and I raise a question. When setting up a brake system on your car, can a racer rotate the backing plate on the front spindles to get the brake line out of the way of debris, or is this a no no? Nice stainless brake hoses don't mean much when they are wrapped around some mesquite bush or cactus on the courses. Also, I see lock nuts and double nuts and such but no safety wire jobs like in the aircraft industry. Is this forbidden also?

The backing plate issue I beleive is no, but let the others answere. We use spring pins on about everything that needs to ever be replaced rather that safety wire for convienence. Jam nuts and loctite of everything else.

The front backing plates will only go on one way. You would be surprised on what the factory rubber hoses will withstand. Although we don't drive through brush and weeds often, we have never had a single issue with the brake hose to wheel cylinder. I am more concearned with the hoses being pulled out of the dual circuit master cylinder as they are only plastic pressed into rubber grommets. That has not been a problem yet, knock on wood. As far as bolting the backing plate to spindle, we loctite ours with no problems. Good luck.

Ziptie your hose up to your tierod so it isn't hanging down, if you do it right you'll have enough play for steering changes for the length and suspension cycling. The part that will bend the most and hang down will be very near the frame horn area. Bend your brake holding tab up so it points straight up to get it out of the way. This will require some hand work on the hard lines to get it right. Easy stuff.
