What do most of you consider max RPM for an average class 11 motor. I know there is a wide range of cams and compression ratio's out there, but there must be a safe range that the lower end can handle. I did some testing with my car last weekend out at johnson valley and it seemed to run best in between 3500 and 5000 RPM. Is it safe to go past 5000 as long as the valve train can handle it? Thanks for the help.

Our motor sings at 6 grand all day long. It is probably higher but our tach stops at 6,000.

Dido that, our motor at 5500-6000 pulls like a freight train.

Considering all the top drivers Robby has rode with that had tacks in there cars I would say he is one of the very small amount of people who could hear and know what RPM a vw motor is running at!with out a tack.

We're rebuilding our motor now. I'm pretty sure when we button it up, it will go to 6,011.

Dirt is for racing. Asphalt is just for getting there.

Stock crank flexes at 5000 rpm, then the number 2 bearing starts pounding its self into an oval.
Some drag racers go past 7000 on a stock crank though. |
