Frank Sanchez Tijuana Mexico.
Federico Montes Ensenada Mexico.
Romo Mexicali Mexico.
No experience in the US thats why my opinion only covers Baja.

Anybody can build a good engine, just take your time and buy the rite parts, ang buy a VW engine book, for the general assembly, Rimco does the best machine work anywere. Thats how I started, and you will save huge money doing it yourself. Rimco can sell you everything you need to put your motor together. Good luck

Rimco(Riddle machine) is in costa mesa. Call information(411) I dont know anything about Pauter machine these days. I used to use Pauter in the 80s then they stopped working on anything but dragster stuff. I remember them being VERY expensive for Everything. After dealing with Rimco I would NEVER go back. When I was a teenager my dad was good freinds with the Pauter family, and they were the only place we dealed with in the 70s to mid 80s. Unless you know sombody at pauter real well, you will save a lot of money at Rimco---Good luck---Dave

vw paradise rebuilt us a motor from crap and it worked well, we had tooo big of a camshaft but I think Jason has learned about 1600 motors by now based on what I've been hearing. Bill Wood will build you a good motor. Cameron's old car use it for two full seasons!

How much is a good reliable race engine going for this days $ , I was told to expect to spend $6000 if I had it made by any builder.

I think its to much I was expecting to spend 2000 at the most 2200 ,but with this pricing I think my project will have to wait another year or mabey more . :( could anyone give me some incite on what to expect to spend on an engine to race score baja 500 and some RECORD AND MDR races??? thanks George Barajas

We built our engine with all new parts, RIMCO machine work and total balance for about $2200.00. Find a good used block and crank will save youself a ton of money.
