I use a aftermarket stock size pully, and for the alternator pully never ever ever use chrome, and spend the money for the best, original german

Yeah definitely stay away from using a chrome pulley or anything chrome for that matter. New German pulleys are obsolete. A good quality Brazilian OEM replacement is available which is what we use. Swap meets are a good source for used German pulleys. I'll pick these up as I find them. Yes, greasy and dirty but still 10 times better than new chrome or aftermarket. Make sure the pulley is also straight and inline with the the crank pulley. This is another problem when using cheapo, aftermarket fanshroud/alternator stand. Don't set the belt tension too tight and make sure you use all 8 of the pulley shims to achieve proper tension. Good luck.

Hey Dave, you run the stock pulley on the crank, not a power pulley right?
So it gives a little more cooling than a power pulley at lower rpms but starts slipping sooner like the stock one. I agree and have heard that the chrome junk slips more than regular finish. |
