I'am in the final stage of building my roll cage and was not sure if I should run support tubes down to the frame horns or not---or should I just attach to the torsion housing --- or should I run tubes to both the frame horns and the torsion housing. I don't want to add unnecessary weight but want it to stay together! This is my first class 11 car so any help would be much appreciated---this is a great site thanks for all the input.

run it to the end of the frame horns right up against the motor mounts, also your cage should attach the torsion tube in 3 places on each side.

The SCORE rule book if I'am reading correctly says that all you are allowed to run to the frame horns for support is two 1 inch wide by 1/4 inch thick band iron from the cage to the frame horns is this correct or should I give Mr. Savage a call and find out? It also says they may be adjustable? I'am confused!

Another stupid thing that has been left in the rule book from the past, it says in the rules also that there are NO limmits on terminal ends of the roll cage which means you can put it anywere you want. Throw the 1/4 strap out the window over 25 years ago, it is they allways add to the rule book with out ever taking anything out so I understand your confusion, but Scores teck likes people to be confused instead of understanding things clearly. Hope this helps

Are you planning on adding any material to the frame horn bottoms running along with the length of the framehorn? I've seen this on 5/1600 but wonder if it would be good on an 11. Thinking it might reduce the ground clearance too much, even with 29\" tall tires.....Anyone?

My question is simple. If you tie into the frame horns from the cage with tubing other than the 1/4\" x 1\", is it considered a terminal end to the cage? If it is and there are other SCORE rules from the past that have been thrown out but are still in the rulebook, let's get some discussion going on what they are and what everyone considers legal.

This question is not meant to be crap stirring. I'm just inquiring because I'm in the process of rebuilding my rear skid plate.

I would hate for someone to be dq'ed for some questionable crap (aka BS) but at the same time, I think all racers should be on the same page as far as rules that may or may not apply.

I'm just say'n!

I was trying to steal your thread and get someone to chime in on frame horn support building designs......

No restriction on terminal ends includes: frame horn down tubes from the rear hoop, beam supporting tubes from the front hoop, and connections to the torsion housing. Seem simple to me. All modern cars I've seen have all of these and no one contests their design for conveying any advantage.

The biggest advantage a cage can give other than saving your ass would be lightweight, 0.095 x 1.5 on all critical tubing and good design to allow easy access to parts and room for the occupants.

ED, , it says in the book, CR33 Rollcages, their are no restrictions as to terminal points of the roll cage!!! which means it can attach anywere, frame horns-front end-torsion housing, no limmit! You call it the way you want to, the bottom line there is no restrictions. I will argue this rule against that out dated line anyday!!and win. I advise you as a class 11 racer to run tubing to your horns to help your car last. Being yours is a swing axel like mine I ran inch and a half down to the horns that has bumper clamps welded just below were it comes out from the body then a tabe is welded to the horn that has a 1/2 inch shock boss welded into the tubing at the bottom with a 1/2 bolt bolted to the motormount and the horn tab, It works really well and is easy to take apart with 2 3/8 botls per side holding the top tubes together so you can get the swing axel trans out of the car. IRS cars, a tube on each side welded in works great. With all the updates that have been added to class 11 it is beyond me why that old thing is in the book to this day. CR33 superceeds any other thing when it comes to the cage and points leading off of it. As far as plating the horns, like a 5/16, I would say it is not ok to do that. Scores intension was to make the cars last longer by taking any cage restrictions away. I just read the strap rule again, if you can find were it says attach to the horns, I will buy you a steak, only swing axel cars would even have a reason to attach to the tranny mount!!!!!Says nothing about horn, end of disscusion.
