ok i was given a 1970 vw bug and my plans were to gut it and turn it into a class 11 and race here in the imperial valeey in the MDR series. But I now have a problem; the rear of the car was cut off to look like a class 5 and I was told that I now cannot run in class 11. I was hoping someone can tell me if there is any way to get around that or do i have to jump up to class 5?

find another car, or find another car and cut off what you need. Anyway no bajas allowed in class 11

Thats what dave meant...cut off what you need from another and fab it up to yours. It needs to remain stock, no fiberglass, parts missing etc.

If you find another bug you would be better off starting with that one.

Ya that is true. I am also looking at buying a race ready class 11 until I can build a class 5 with the car I have.

Daniel, you might want to give Dennis Sletten a call at Indio Dune Buggy Center. He an his sons race an 11, aka 11 Brothers Motorsports. He is also on this site by the name of TROPHYSEDAN.

What were you budgeting to build it into a class 11? Take that number and triple it to build a 5/1600 ($30,000). Build a 11, Dave can give you the real skinny on 5/1600 costs over an 11. A competitive 11 can hang with the 5's just about any way.....

Ya thats what I figured it would cost and I am on a very tight budget and I am just starting to try and race myself. I have been around racing my hole life and I want to get behind the wheel and I am confident if I am given the shot I can do good enough. And i like class 11 because of the budget and the amazing competition. I will give the site a look and see what i can do.
