im having problems installing stock pedal assembly in my bug. i can get everything installed but the brake pedal keeps falling to the floor towards the seat. i dont know if im missing something. please help.

You're missing a spring that holds the brake pedal toward the front of the car. It keeps all the slack out of the pushrod that activates the master cylinder. Fix it, that's dangerous how you have it now. You probably have that spring laying around wherever you took the assembly apart!

the spring is there. when i have it hooked up it still pushes it to the floor. ill take pics and post them. ive tried the spring in all positions it still falls foward

Actually you are missing the factory pedal stop that keeps the pedals from falling back (away from the master cyl). It is adjustable and held in place with an 8mm bolt (13mm)head. Chances are it either rusted out or if a floorpan replacement was installed, the provision for the pedal stop is not there. Worry not though, it is very easy to make one with a small piece of angle iron and bolt or weld it to the pan. Just make sure the pedals are where you want them before you weld. The brake pedal return spring is what keeps the pedal against this stop maintaining freeplay. Hope this helps.
