Just got my trans. back and was wondering if any one had an opinion on what gear oil I should use? synthetic or regular---weight etc. Any information would be appreciated.

I have allways used the cheapest gear oil on the shelf and never have had any tranny problems in any of my cars. I even used Automatic tranny fluid in my trannys when I was racing and winning short course 5/1600 races. All your tranny gives a damn about is weather it has oil in it or not. You will find nothing lasting longer in the tranny if you use some overpriced brand verses staylube or any cheap 90 weight oil. Save the extra money you save and put the money elswhere

I agree with Dave Anything will work and don't forget the 10w-30 Pep Boys motor oil for your stock 7:5 to 1 engine. You'll save money there also. Put the twenty dollars you'll save for the New $1,000 rear Fox Shocks.

Without a filter on the breather hole of the trans, you need to change the fluid just to keep it clean anyway. I guess cheap stuff is good for that too. I'm asking my next trans guy to tap the case for a brass barb so I can put a filter on the breather to keep dirt out.

It seems like changing the oil from time to time should keep the dirt out too right? I am bored right now so my mind is wandering thinking of racing.....

The filter is a good idea. But you'll save two dollars without it.
