TOPIC: Best Year For Class 11

Best Year For Class 11 4 years, 8 months ago #3524

I was wondering what year would be the best all around year to build a class 11 with. I heard 68 and 69 because they had the best suspension setups but I was just wondering what you all thought.

a '68 is kinda the \"worst\" of both worlds...ball joint front & swing axle rear, where the '69 & later are ball joint & irs....just a matter of what you like & can make work. mine is being built based on a '72 bug. The price was right !!:silly:

Go with the IRS tranny. You now can install Type II Cv Joints.
Agree with OlManx, the price and body shape must be right.

go with what ever car you can get the cheapest on 65 and earlyer cars the spinles are very small and if you run within the rules is a very weak front end---Dave-co

Our 11 car is a 68. The reason I picked a 68 is it's the same suspension configuration as a class 9 car long axle swing axle tranny and ball joint front suspension. I know I hit stuff way harder in my 9 car than I ever would in the 11 and It held up very good. We've had 0 axle and 0 ball joint problems so I like the 68!!

What I need is an IRS car with a good price. No engine necessary, I just need it to have a trans in it for a core. Better the body the better!!!!

Well I need a car first. Keep me abreast of any deals on cars that are too good to pass up! Since this would be my second build I would be the sole owner, and I think I could design something truely special.
