SNORE rules states
\"SCR12 Wheels and Tires
Any steel 4” x 15” wheel that bolts on a stock VW brake drum may be
used. Wheel studs allowed. Any manufacturers tire and size allowed up to 31” tall
and 10” wide as mounted and inflated on a 4” wide rim with 18 lbs of air. Spare
tire is mandatory but may be mounted any place within body shell or trunk.\"

So wheels are open, I did NOT think that SCORE allowed any rim, but specified stock rims only.

Either way is fine, But I was contemplating taking the stock rims and adding a set of weld on Beadlocks to them. You do not have to cut or modify the shell in any way and it would do wonders to protect the valvestem. It would also strengthen the outer lip of the rim. Which has to be a good thing..

Ideas?

Strengthening the lip of the rim doesn't seem to be a real issue if you run tubes and a big tire, for instance a 235 or 7x15 you won't need that, just put enough tire pressure in them and they'll be fine. Extra reciprocating weight will make your car slower.
