how bad will a 30 x 9.50 x 15\" tire rub on an 11 car??
General tire has some interesting stuff going on right now, but that is the closest to 235's that they have.. |

That's a damn big tire. I think somebody was running those at Primm like 4 years ago. They were getting really bad mileage but the rest of the car didn't seem to be doing so well anyway.
215, 235, or 7x15. I would say 7x15 and 235 are nearly the same size even though 235mm is exactly 9.252\" |

Sounds like $125 it is.
Hell they are cheaper anyway.. I might get a set of the 30's for the rear just incase of DEEP silt like they had a caliente last year.. |

Jason, agreed tall tires help for ground clearance. But don't forget, that changes your final gear ratio. If you have to stay in 1st gear because of no mo H.P. what are you actually gaining?

not just the height, it is the width that I am considering for flotation..
I can air down a bit more and hammer it through the silt beds. |

The difference between a 215 and a 235 is noticable. Not just the circumference difference which changes your overall final drive ratio, also the weight. The riciprocating mass is much higher and more outward on the wheel meaning your inertia is going to make the car accelerate slower. I think the 7x15 or the 235s are about right. You spend most of your race in 2nd gear with those sizes and 1st has enough speed to get through almost anything.

Mace I was just looking at those last night for my car. Let me know how they do and any pictures with them on the car would be great. Thanks.

Sure thing.
I probably won't have them mounted till after the BAP (hoping to get General to mount them free then) GT is doing a fairly impressive contingency this year for SNORE. Add race pricing for them and it was good to go. They are slightly cheaper than the BFG's and hopefully with a set of tubes in them, I'll be pretty safe. Now I gotta find someone to shave them.. |
