Are you talking about the 14mm studs? If so, The drums should be drilled out with a 37/64in drill bit (9/16in works if you can't find the 37/64) and the studs pressed in.

After drilling out the holes for the studs you should clean up/create a flat surface for the stud to press in against. I forget the name of the tool we used to do this sorry. Additionaly, I highly recommend against using empi studs and go with sway-a-way ones. The empi's are junk and will cause trouble.

Forget all the hassles, just run the stock lug bolts they are just as tough or tougher than any aftermarket stud kit. Gauranteed.

HMM but it sucks trying to put a tire back on in the dirt with stock lug bolts. I know I just studded my drums, much better.

Yeah that is the only down side. It takes a few extra seconds to change out a tire. However, they will not let you down. The thing to do is install 1 stud per drum to hang the wheel then use 3 of the factory lugbolts. The hard lesson I learned with the aftermarket stud kit, was I installed a no name kit from Kar tek supposedly \"the good ones\" and while pre-running the right rear wheel flew off causing body/fender damage and destroying the drum and brake assembly. Was it product faliure or installation error?? Going back to the stock lugs, there is no question. Also money saved from purchasing the kit and labor to install. How strong are the factory lugs? Well I once had to change a flat on my bus that had been on there for quite some time, the lugs were all rusty. I couldn't get any of them to budge so I used a good impact socket with a breaker bar and a 4ft. cheater. Thinking I would snap the lug heads right off or break the tool. To my surprise, the drum had cracked with all the pressure and the lugbolts were fine and re-used.
