Hey all i'm mike. i go to school in rochester new york. There i am part of a Baja SAE team. My friend and i have decided to compete in the Baja 1000 in class 11 for the 2010 race. we're well on our way tearing down a 1973 beetle. a few more weeks and parts start going back on.

I have much to learn in the racing and fabricating world. But along with that i consider my self far from a novice.

I joined the coalition to gain knowledge on the class 11 bug. as well as create some sort of network for future years.

I have many questions to ask and where i can i'll offer any advice i have.

Welcome Mike!! You have unlimited knowledge on this site. If all goes well you may have your '73 race ready for under $10K.

yeah thats the plan we're about 2k in and just about to start the rebuild, which is going to be the expensive part. Any tips on sponsorship opportunities or types of companies that are more likely to sponsor?

start with your wallet, then as you finish races go to potential sponsors with a portfolio.realistically your wallet will be your biggest sponsor
