I'm Kaly, a senior college student in Rhode Island with a home in New Mexico. I'm currently the captain of a 4-man (2-woman, 2-man) team with plans on racing the 2011 Baja in Class 11. Figuring that the first thing you need to do when starting any new venture is talk to people who've actually done it, a bunch of folks pointed me here.
My family is big into dirt-bike riding and racing, and I'll always love the motorcycles, but I (and my team in general) am looking to do something with a different character to it. It might also have something to do with budget, but I feel like we'll work with that as we go.
Several people in the off-road world that I've spoken to -- mostly folks back in Albuquerque -- have called me a 'star-struck little kid'. If that is the impression I give, or if I pester too much, I apologize, but I'm not one to let things like realistic expectations get in between me and my dreams.
So sorry if I pester you, but I'm looking forward to learning all I can here, from some people I consider heroes of the sport. Thanks in advance, just for giving me the opportunity to listen.
