so i have looked all over the forum here and tried to locate a parts list if you will on what is needed to build a class 11. my original plan was to build a jeepspeed and go run baja. i live in alabama so desert racing isn't something i can grab my cooler and go watch and learn. and the people who do know what is going on out here are in a different financial situation than i am.After searching this web site i have tried to form a parts list for myself and i know i must be missing some stuff and i would like others input on what all i need to buy. i haven't built a bug before but they seem simple enough. so here goes

bug
roll-cage-buy a kit and improve upon it, as well as add some bracing to areas on the car
tires- (what kind do you guys run, something tells me the mud terrains we run here probably are not the ones i need)
shocks
fresh air system , helmets racing suits
seats
gas tank
gps
lights
window nets
seat belts
maybe a gas gauge and a few others
probably a new battery brake lines

(can i upgrade the brakes)- no i have not bought the score book yet i have every intention of doing so soon though, just need to know if i can afford this or not.

i plan on rebuilding the motor and trans. so i figured a rebuild kit for both, but i see talk of some kind of beefing up of the trans and axles...what are these people speaking of??? and where do i find these parts?? i no nothing of vw bugs but have built a few drag cars and rock crawlers and spent way to much money and time with racing dirt bikes so i don't think a bug can be all that complicated

also i have not bought my bug yet. so i assume that some stuff will have to restored back to normal.
all i want to do with this bug is baja 1000 ( yea i know me and everyone else) i would love to run other races but hey lets be honest i am in school about to graduate in another year and back in for another three and there is no way in hell i can make it out west to run a season.

i have truck, trailer, entry fee, and enough money to buy some beer and jager. my family owns a body shop so i have access to almost every tool known to man for cars. and i get help with what i cant do myself. i just need to know what i missing in my list.

any other advice you would like to through out there would be great if you have any.

oh yea one more thing. i know the cage has to be tagged. how do i go about doing this? is this something that can be done in tech inspections pre race or will i find someone in the south east to do this?? i am assuming this is similar to having a NHRA tech spec cage.

Cage has to be done by SCORE if your going to race SCORE. others dont care.

what do you mean it has to be done by score as in they must build it or they must check it? thanks man

Sorry I was in a hurry. The cage is built by you, must be inspected by Savage (SCORE) before the race. Now the requiement is basiclly Cromolly for a new car....The cheap cage kit wont fly, I beleive there is a DOM available that is SCORE legal. This only applies if your going to race a SCORE event or want a SCORE legal car.....Take your time, research, research,research. I bet you could buy a running SCORE legal car for $5000.00 less than you could build it...maybe cheaper. Good luck and ask alot of questions before you just go do something, it will save you a major headache!

thanks bugged. one more question since you think that it would be alot cheaper to just buy one. besides here and race dezert where else would i go to look for one to buy. i know the end of the year is coming up and alot of them should come up for sale. once again thanks.

look no further car 1110 is for sale here and race desert this is a well built car with a score tag .and a race history , you will not find a better deal ,but you can try .......
