So I know we're all running built motors with pleanty of compression and camshaft duration but really, what are you guys running on your pilot/main jets?
We had the 009 and we ran 30 degrees advance with a 65/140. Where are other people? Just wondering..... It seems like many people run big main jets like 150 or so but our motor didn't like that much fuel, it was washing the cylinders being too rich. |

That's a big jet! Cool. I think that motor is on the upper end of what is used in this class. I remember that we had out motor tuned by VW paradise on their chassis dyno and we went from a 150 down to a 140. That was a big surprise to me! I think our Solex pic-30 round bowl was funky to tune and that motor never had any bottom end. Really I had little experience at the time tuning those kind of carbs and the camshaft was so big I don't think any carb would have solved the powerband.
It had a drag cam in it I believe. Said, '304' on it meaning I believe 304 degrees of advertised duration, about 15-20 too much in my opinion. That would be equivalent to an engle W140 for you street guys. Under 3000 rpm that motor dogged about, no torque, big issues. |
