Snore Rules
CAMSHAFT, LIFTERS, VALVES, ROCKER ARMS Any camshaft, gear, valve springs, valve spring retainers, and lifters are allowed. Valve spring seat diameter in head must remain stock. Valves must be stock 45 degrees. One piece valve ok. Valve guide may be steel, bronze, or cast iron. No grinding or polishing in the port including valve guide must use stock 1600 rocker arms. The rocker arms may be resurfaced to permit the use of swivel feet. No other grinding or changes may be made to the rocker arms. No roller or needle bearings will be allowed as part of the camshaft or as an interface between the rocker arms and the camshaft. Any push rods and push rod tubes. Any valve adj screws. Clips on rocker arms may be wire tied. Rocker assemblies may be subject to post race inspection Valves must be stock 45*. Does that mean that I have to run stock valves? I believe that it reads that I cannot increase the diameter of the valves themselves, but can I run different Valves that still have a single 45* seat?? |

You're going to be running stock replacement stainless steel valves. Intake 35.5mm, exhaust 32mm. You can have a 3 angle valve job but obviously, one of those angles is going to be 45*. The other two is a matter of debate. You can read a bunch of interesting stuff in 'how to hotrod volkswagens' from the dune buggy book guy.
Just buy heads from RIMCO already setup for you application. Just tell them how many cc's you want on the combustion chamber and that you're running a cam that requires single or dual valve springs and they will do the rest. I believe a set of dual ports is about $650 from RIMCO. If you think about it: Bare 040's are $125 each = 250/pair Stainless steel valves are = 70/set Cromoly retainers = 30/set locks = 15/set valvesprings = 50/set spring seats = 25/set So all the parts are around $450 or so shipped/taxed You figure they are setting up the valvespring height and flycutting the heads for about $200 of labor when everything is said and done. Not too bad. |

You could have cbperformance ship your order straight to RIMCO for $400 and then you want them to flycut for compression and do a score-legal valvejob, and final assembly. All of that should be about $650 shipped back to you with some race-ready cylinder heads with good stuff in them.
