Does anyone have any pictures thoughts or ideas on how to put in or reinstalling your steering columns.
I took my out during the build when they weren't mandatory, now I need to put it back in, however, the roll cage is there, and the column will be tight which will now flex the body of the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Scott 1156 |

So putting it in the stock position is no longer an option?

Well.......... she likes it stock (the car of course), but its too big and there is no room to fit stock....
the problem is that I took it (the steering column) out before this new rule and I have built around the columns... i.e., roll bar etc.... |

Hate to say it Scott, in the 36 years I have been involved with class 11 never has it been allowed to remove the stock column. Some assumed you didnt need it but it has never been that way. The only way I can see getting it back in is either remove the bar you have across that I asume is in the way and remake it after re installing the column. If you need help I will be happy to help you if you bring your car here. Hope you race BAP

Even in my limited time with Class 11's I have not seen replacing the stock column as \"legal\"
Do you have the verbiage on the \"new\" rule? |

There is none for the column, in the beggining of the class 11 rules it states that anything NOT MENTIONED in the rules must remain \"factory stock\". It has NEVER allowed you to remove the column and replace it with what ever. People assumed because that is a weak peice that you could change it and some did. I am not saying they were trying to cheat, just mis informed is all

Thanks for the input, but Dave you mentioned in the beginning of the rules... Who's rules? SNORE?
I looked at my old La Rana 95-96 rule book and I don't see anything... I also looked in my SCORE rule book and the only rule that I see in the SCORE book is the CR 14 Steering which says \"any manufactures steering wheel may be used. Steering box must remain stock but shims may be used between pitman arm and box. Steering components such as ball joints, steering arms, and the rods must remain stock.\" Not trying to challenge anyone, as I am used to the class 5 car going back to 1976... So, this is somewhat new to me... So, if anyone can answer \"who's rules\" that might help too thanks |

Class 11 rules have always been \"if it is not specifically mentioned, it is not allowed\".
Leads to a lot of arguments. |
