Parts aquisition has begun..... Got some thing stubs off thesamba.com and some axles too. As soon as I figure out how to post pics on this new board I will but right now I'm having issues using photobucket with this new forum.

Thanks guys. I'm going to build this car kind slow so be patient but you know what they say, good thing come to those who want to race!

Dave, I'm sure we haven't talked about ALL your secrets but maybe a lot of them. I always appreciate your input and advice. Like you said, I still have to beat you even if the car works right.

Dennis, We've got to chat sometime, I'm glad I'm getting back to some desert activities. Hopefully we can hang out at an upcoming race.

More parts. Got some drive flanges, cv boots, motor mount, cv washers, etc.... Most of the stuff for a roller. Now I gotta save up my George W. Bush money and do a Mckenzies trip! Ahem. Cameron..... This will be my 3rd torsion adjuster by the way....Jeez! Gonna do a KK cut WAY down like the little one.

Wondering if anyone on the board has any tips for saving weight when building a new car???

Also, what do you all carry in the way of tools onboard your car while racing? For short course???

Of course I will document this build, at least most of it....This build may take some time and I still don't have the car. I have a lot of what I need to build the roller in terms of parts. I just re-estimated the cage, came up with $700 for 4130 everything and that doesn't include skid plates. DOM isn't that much cheaper though. It would still be like $500 with DOM so what the hell.

I already have a very detailed plan on how I'm going to build this car, my final questions are related to whether or not to do seat sliders (20 extra lbs.), and what combination of cam/compression to run. I'm pretty decided on going with web cam's 1600 torque cam with 10-11:1. I think that would last a long time and still run very strong in the bottom end.

The real excitement I'm waiting for is to see how much travel I can get out of the rear end when the rear of the roller is built up. Seems like many are getting some impressive numbers. We'll see what can be done with the trans position and front trans mount.....

So the pan is coming along. My dad has painstakingly removed any sign there there was ever any form of seat mounts, we've cut the upper shock mounts, covered the e-brake hole, removed all the hardware, and patched the hole of someone that didn't know how to remove a clutch cable the correct way with some 1/8\" plate.

I have completed seam welding on the frame head and frame horns and have made my first cut to make way for the torsion adjuster.

My King Kong adjuster is about to go under the knife this afternoon, it's going to be cut down to a mere 5\" wide to make a proper lap weld possible and I'll do a piece of tubing to support the finger box (one of Dave's tricks). Pictures tomorrow, maybe the adjuster will be in this time tomorrow! We'll see.

Cameron says I should have a roller ready by Primm at this pace but that's going to be a stretch! hahahahhahaha
